THE PLANTS (English text)

There are plants in almost all the zones of the planet, so much in the land as inside the water. The plants are alive beings capable of making his own food. All the vegetables that have lived for million years have supplied the sufficient oxygen in order that the life continues in the planet.

PARTS OF A PLANT

Roots: They serve to support the plant and to protect her in the land against the winds; but the principal end of the roots is of absorbing the substances that have to be his food. Many of the roots are useful and use as food as the beet, the carrot and the yucca; others are medicinal as the ginger and others, for the industry as the cúrcuma.

Stem: Is the part of the plant that grows in the opposite direction to that of the root, from the bottom up, of the stem the leaves are supported. The stems serve for: To support all the organs of the vegetable: leaves, flowers and fruits; To lead from the root to the leaves and flowers the sap.


 Leaf: They Are the vegetable organs that serve to the plant to breathe and to check the chlorophyll function. The leaves are born in the stem or in the branches; they are generally of green color.
